11/8/2022 0 Comments Solasta crown of the magister caat![]() Just walking around and having stuff melt as I, my Spiritual Weapon, and my Spirit Buddies whomped on it. I am sure this was wasteful, but I crushed the last few fights in Solasta with up-cast Spiritual Weapon (to 4th, so 2d8+5) and up-cast Spirit Guardians (to 5th, so 5d8 radiant damage). ![]() It's pretty much this or Healing Word, and I don't have somebody so close to death that they need me to lob a spell slot at them every round! RIGHT? I just look at them like, listen, once I hit, say, level 5, I will have enough 2nd-level spell slots to use one in every meaningful fight, and doing that gives me something to do with a bonus action! If you're a cleric, trying to figure out something to do with your bonus action isn't easy. If you can get Bless up with a cleric and then hit enemies with something like Sleep or Entangle, you are almost never going to miss. Invisibility: Person attacking from invisibility will have advantage on their first attack. Hold Person: Paralyzed means you get advantage to hit them. Sleep: You get advantage targeting a sleeping opponent.īlindness: You get advantage to hit a blinded enemy in most cases. Guiding Bolt: If you're confident in your ability to hit, this does damage and gives your next ally advantage on the attack against the target. Some of the following spells are Wizard spells, and some are Cleric spells, so just assume I'm talking spells in general at this point.Įntangle: If the targets get restrained, you've got advantage to hit them. (The Cleric has a liiiiiittle of this with Sacred Flame, but honestly, many enemies have good Dex saves.) If I'm having trouble with an enemy with a very high AC, my Wizard's Shadow Dagger may not be flashy, but it's a lot more likely to do some damage each turn. With an AoE spell, I can usually get SOMEBODY to fail their save.įinally, I make sure that my Wizard always has a Cantrip that uses an attack roll to determine whether it hits as well as a Cantrip that doesn't, but has the enemy make a save. Out of personal preference, I usually stick with AoE spells, because I hate casting a spell and having an enemy save, and that's that. Some spells are single target, and some are area-effect. Solasta crown of the magister caat how to#Wizards: I am absolutely only so-so with wizards, but my goal when I use them is twofold: first, I absolutely minmax the heck out of area of effect spells as though my wizard could look into the matrix and figure out exactly how to get three bad guys without hitting any of the party and second, I cast spells that make enemies easier to hit. Also, my rogue is always, barring scripted fight shenanigans, the one who opens the fight by attacking from stealth with advantage. With an archer rogue, I can almost always be using Stealth, which means I'm attacking with advantage, and then using a bonus action to go back into Stealth if I need to. Rogue: I've had much better luck with archery than with melee. The paladins are mostly defensive (bonus to saves, some bonuses to AC), but are helpful as well.Īlso, see the spell stuff with Wizards below. A quick look suggests that Battle Cleric starts giving adjacent allies +1 to hit, to AC, and to saves at 6th level. Nice!"įinally, once you get higher in level, some of the subclasses for Cleric and Paladin give nice little auras to allies. ![]() And because it's a roll, it lets me feel useful as a player. ![]() Having a minute's worth of 1d8+Wis Force damage, which almost nothing is resistant to, as a bonus action, is really helpful. I have seen online that I am absolutely in the minority here, because it doesn't do huge damage, but honestly, I don't need it to do huge damage. The extra 1d4 means that I only miss on truly terrible rolls.įor clerics in particular, I also find that once I hit 3rd level, Spiritual Weapon is a good choice. But any fight that might go more than two rounds? Bless is a must. Like, okay, two guards who are there for flavor, maybe not then. I try to build my characters to have the best possible chance to hit every turn, at least in some capacity.Ĭleric and Paladin: I cast Bless in every non-speedbump battle. I'm also sure that others know more than I do. I am not an expert, but I've played enough D&D to not stink, and enough Solasta to get through stuff reasonably well. ![]() If folks are having trouble with the fights and are finding them swingy, I have a few notes. ![]()
